According to the HFPA submission rules, a film must be in cinemas for a straight 7 days before getting a chance to be eligible for a golden globe best picture drama nomination. That means the HFPA made an exception this year with the (then) unreleased film Avatar: The way of the water, which was nominated before its release, defying history and all possible explanation as of why they changed the rules for this year. For the sake of history and cinema, what the hell is going on?! Are we going to ignore this? If that’s the case, why Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer wasn’t nominated? And no, London doesn’t count (Where Avatar 2 had it’s premiere).
